Clutch Plate Question
I did my T5 swap and decided to go drive the car. I ordered a zoom clutch kit that was complete including flywheel from SummitRacing.com. The clutch plate I recieved was a solid hub. The pressure plate has some damping ability by the looks of it. You CAN NOT get a smooth start with clutch at all. If you slip it at all the car just bounces. Is this an incorrect clutch plate for street use???

Re: Clutch Plate Question
Did you break-in the transmission properly for 500mi? Better-than-stock clutches will tend to chatter more, and more-so until they're properly broken-in.

Re: Clutch Plate Question
I have about 700 miles on it now. No burn outs or WOT in in first or second. The hopping has gotten worse the more I drive it. There is no such thing as a smooth start it all or nothing. Everything is new slave and master cylinder. The kit I got was the 30045SSK.

Re: Clutch Plate Question
That's a pretty aggressive clutch.. Are you planning to do high-rpm sustaned racing, or is this a street/strip application? You're going to have to warm and rev that kevlar clutch pretty good to keep it happy, not good for the street.

Re: Clutch Plate Question
I was planning on running the 4.10's but changed my mind and went 3.73 in the rearend I am building right now.The car is a daily driver but they have test and tunes at 1/8th mile strip i have here by where i live so it would see the strip once in a while.

Re: Clutch Plate Question
IMHO, Clutch sounds too aggressive, but you might be able to get use to it.. You may have to put some more stop&go break-in miles on it to condition it.

Re: Clutch Plate Question
The track we have here is Farmington Dragway. I am going to give Zoom a call tomarrow. I may just pull it out and have the flywheel and pressure plate checked and install a new dampened clutch disk.

Re: Clutch Plate Question
I spoke with Zoom this morning, that clutch I purchased IS NOT a streetable clutch. I can reuse my flywheel and pressure plate. Zoom gave me a part number for a new clutch plate that will work for my application. The price is not bad but changing it is a pain. The part number they gave me was RCF862. Now I have to locate where to get one. Neither summit or Jegs shows it as a valid part number.
