GTO T56 Swap
I've started collecting parts for my upcoming T56 swap. I have a 91 Camaro RS with a 305 and T5 currently. I bought a low low mile T56 from a 05 GTO for $1500cdn. I'm going to be using the steel adapter plate to be able to retain the stock clutch setup. Which BTW if you want to use it on a GTO box you will need to cut off the piece of aluminum that sticks out the front. I've also have a Spohn cross member and torque arm for a aftermarket t56. I'm waiting for the offset shifter cup and f-body hurst shifter because as some of you know it sits way too far back. Here are some pics.

Re: GTO T56 Swap
Do you have a pic of what that bellhousing looks like without the adapter plate on it? I am curious because I have not seen the LS T56 out of the car yet.
I am very interested because I would like to use this behind my Buick V8 that will be going into one of my 3rd gens in the next year or so when I leave the war zone...

Do you mean just a picture of the t56 without the adapter? The adapter plate bolts to where the LSX bell would bolt. Then you use any old style GM bellhousing. Chevy and BOP had the same bell housing to transmission bolt pattern so it should work. As long as the bell housing depths of the two are equal. Guys use these in chevelles and camaros to retain the stock clutch assembly.

Thanks a bunch for that!
I am really jazzed now, and thanks also for the link to the adapter plate for purchasing.
Do you have a picture of the bellhousing? Like the front where it bolts to the engine? Thanks!

Re: GTO T56 Swap
I have a picture of the GTO LS2 bell. I was planning on using the stock t5 bell that in my car now. But have changed my mind and returned the adapter plate. I want to lose the 20 or 25lbs of 1/2" steel. I am having the mid plate machined down to accept an aftermarket hydraulic throwout bearing. And I am having the input shaft shortened .400". Then I am using the LSX bell on my sbc. It will bolt up less one bolt which I am not concerned about because GM left one out for years. Then I use the stock flywheel and clutch kit. Its only for this year to get it on the road then I will buy a scatter shield.
