transgo 2-3 kit and jr kit questions?? for 700r4

I have instructions for the 700-2&3, and sk700 jr kits and wonder why they differ. the jr kit says to install the spring before the piston for the fourth accumulator, the 700 2-3 says to install the piston and spring. Is it because the 700 2-3 kit on step 2 where the tapered plug goes in blocks accumulation completely and so it makes no difference? the jr kit doesn't install a plug into the trans here. is accumulation for 4th eliminated by installing the plug is my question I think

Re: transgo 2-3 kit and jr kit questions?? for 700r4

I have offered the TransGo "modified" Shift kit since the mid 1990's. It uses the TransGo Jr. and the TransGo 700-2-3 combined. This is to give you a nice smooth 1-2 part throttle shift, and a firm WOT shift. The 700-2-3 does not offer this smoothness on the 1-2 part throttle shift. The 700-2-3 tells you to install the 4th accumulator plug in the case. This is to "eliminate" the 4th gear accumulation. Now you "do not" have to install the spring and piston with the "case plug" installed. I do not know why TransGo has you reinstall it here. The Junior has you install the spring first and then the piston in the 4th accumulator. This changes the 4th accumulation to be very limited, and in otherwords it will firm up the 3-4 shift.

Re: transgo 2-3 kit and jr kit questions?? for 700r4

makes sense to me now. I thought I figured that out, glad to see a response-I will probably always follow the jr kit in that spot v.s. eliminating accumulation, plus I hate anything that modifies the cases when preventable.
any additional thoughts on the 1-2, or 4th accumulation subject from anyone? I would probably use the 1-2 springs from the jr kit also, v.s. doing the B&M shim the piston solid etc. but wonder if anyone has any additions on this subject. I've seen the pinless o ringed accumulators but haven't tried them yet. concerns that they might be too harsh?
