Transmission mount
Ok the **** hath finally hitteth the fan . I was trying to change out my transmission mount and the bolt that goes through the crossmember started rotating freely inside the transmission mount. The nut is stuck really bad so it won't come off. So I tried pulling off the whole crossmember. The bolts on the wretched thing were so tight they busted my ratchet handle. Now I have no way of getting the mount out of there. The nut on the bottom bolt is halfway loose, making the situation even worse than before. I can feel the transmission jumping around over rough roads. Can I have the offending nut/bolt cut off and drive back home (about 3 miles) without the transmission solidly anchored to the crossmember?

i'd say yes, if you have a broke mount it isn't tied down anyway. take it easy if you drive it. if it were me i'd try to find a torch or grinder i could use to cut the bolt off. i'd use a ES poly mount instead of an OEM type mount.

I see this was posted quite a while ago, but i would have suggested some liquid wrench, and an open ended wrench to remove the bolt, while holding the bolt with some lock-jaw pliers.

Hey Joe, thanks for replying. I took the car to my exhaust guy the next day and had the entire thing cut off with a torch. Yeah, it was fun watching that b@stard melt and fall to the ground!
