T56 Reverse Pop.

I'm about to purchase a Camaro which was upgraded with a T56. In my test drive the car shifted smooth through the gears, but when I tried to shift into reverse it would pop out. I was warned of this before hand, and was told it was prob. because of a bent shift fork. If anyone else has experienced this or might have another reason and could give me an idea of how much it would cost to get fixed (major or minor repair) I'd appreceate it.

my friend with a 93 Z has this same problem, some times it does it and soem times it doesnt. he has taken it to 3 diff trans shops and they couldnt find the prblem, but other than that they said it was fine.

Make sure the reverse lockout is hooked up.

Axle/Gears: 4.10 GM 7.5 10-bolt
I had the same problem with my T56. The reverse slider gear assemby is bad. It has the synchros and blocker rings in it. The assembly gets chewed up and will cause it to pop out of reverse. This is usually caused from putting the car into reverse instead of fifth because the reverse lockout wasn't hooked up. I got my trans fixed for $150.
