84 rear disc hose question.

Car: 89 FORMULA 350, 91 Z28 Convertible
Engine: ls1, LB9
Transmission: t56, Auto
Axle/Gears: S60/ 3.73
84 rear disc hose question.

I know that the 84 uses standard thread and my 88 has metric now as far as the rear calaper goes could I use the frount break hoses on the rear calaper. both the calapers and the hose f/r look very similar.

please oly answere this if you have in fact seen this set up in hand and know what I am getting at.

never done it but i'll reply anyway. i'd guess the main differance in the front and rear hose is the provisions for the clips or the loacation for them to secure the hose.

Thanks I think I might try and see if the rear are the same length hose. the caliper looks like it is the same as the frount but, has the parking brake added. If this is so I can retain my factory lines and just find a differant porpotaning valve.

if you have the machined aluminum porpotaing valve it'll wprk for either brake set up. the other valve has a casting look to it, you'll know when you look if it's caast or machined.

Just to let you know; 1984 was the first year to use metric for the brake lines & hoses. 1983 was the LAST year for SAE fittings.

You'd be much better off buying new hoses- old hoses deteriorate and fail. New isn't that expensive, either.
