LS1 Driveshafts

FYI-Talked to AMA who builds Three Rivers LS1 Alum. Driveshafts and was told that the numbers on the decal #12564004 and 12564003 are one and the same, just built at different factory locations. The one numbered 10085375 is a 2 3/4" dia. shaft and the previous two mentioned are 3" in dia. I purchased a 12564004 from a forumn member and took it to Houston Drive Train Service for new u-joints and a balance job. It was advised by their tech to remove the round steel/rubber damper on the front yoke because as they get older the rubber breaks down and causes vibration problems. They also told me that the 2 3/4" and 3" use the same thickness of tubing, one just being smaller in dia. than the other. Installed the 3" alum. shaft on my 85 and could tell the difference. Seems less drivetrain "feel" coming through the car. I had the OEM steel shaft with new u-joints and a balance job on it before the swap so i can say with confidence this is a easy mod and is worth the effort. And it looks cool too!
