O.E.M Zexel-Torsen carrier?

Does the O.E.M Zexel-Torsen differential need a 2 series or 3 series carrier?

From reading some posts I've picked up that the HD unit needs a 3 series carrier.

I'm talking about SLP's PART NUMBER 64501T

Thanks

Your sig says 3.42s & SLP posi... that combo works fine. Go for it.

To clarify: the posi unit is the carrier. You just have to use a carrier and gearset with the correct ring gear flange to pinion center spacing.

I found this https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000151.html

I think it's answered my questions.

So the differentials are the carriers? Or they include the carrier on them. So if I get 3 series gears I'll be fine?

I was planning on doing a gear swap at the same time anway 3.42's or 3.23s.

Yes, the diff is the carrier.

If you get your gears for a 3 series (not a special thick cut gear for 2-series), then your Torsen will be fine.

I put a SLP Torsen unit in my 82 with 3.42 gears. I had to change axles to accomodate the spline difference that occurred in 86-87. It works great.
