Shifts hard when cold but don't when warmed up?

When my trans fluid is cold like it's been sitting overnight and I start up and take off it snaps my neck like there's one heck of a shift kit in it. But as soon as it warms up it shifts like my wife's chysler sebring. I just had a new trans put in a year ago last Jan. It's always done this even before my new trans. I like the hard shifting and wish it would be that way all the time. I thought about putting in a shift kit but it would kill me if it shifted any harder when it's cold. Should I install a transcooler and would this do what wanting? Thanx

Try a fluid change. Make it some quality fluid.

I'd get a transcooler anyway, I don't know if it'll really help with what you want though.

It's common, a lot of people don't realize it. If you install a shift kit, the cold hard shift should not get much worse. A tranny cooler is always a really good idea. I would say change the fluid every 30000 miles.

I had the same problem and when i adjusted my TV cable, it was consistant. the thing was chirping the tires on the 1-2 shift when cold. Much better now, do this quick before your tranny dies on you, they dont last long if you keep the cable misadjusted. I effectively shorten the cable to get it to the work right....good luck

my cable was way out of adjustment, so i pulled the cable out from the very tip and crimped on some crimp electrical connectors and cut off the ring part. this pulls the cable further out of the housing. Then test drive, you can make fine adjustments using the silver button on the side of the plenum where the TV cable is mounted. take a look at it and you will figure it out, your main objective is to shorten the cable, so where there is a will, there is a way, good luck

Just yesterday I made some adjustments to my tv cable. The shifts were all to soft. I adjusted the cable to where now my shifts are neck snapping, coffee spilling like they used to be. Also don't forget to check the tranny fluid. I noticed my tranny was a half way off the full mark.

I pulled my cable out about an inch and it seems like it shifts at about 4200 RPM at WOT but won't chirp tires but shifts a little harder. It is alittle better than it was especially driving in town to where it would change gears before it should and kind of bog down. Will pulling this cable out farther to get it to shift at 4500 RPM at WOT hurt anything? Besides possibly blow up my engine. And which way(front to rear) do you adj. the area with the button on the cable? Do you push the button and pull the cable? Thanks for all you info this fun! Now I feel like I own my car and not that it owns me. Who's the Boss! haha
