Anyone use a "built" converter from Art Carr?

I called Art Carr yesterday and spoke with a guy that was very helpful. They can build one specifically for my setup. It would be a 2800 stall. It comes with a 2 year warranty. It also comes with a free stall change if I ever change up my motor. It costs $500.00.

I also was looking at the Pro-Built site and saw the Continental Converters. I've only heard of them because of this board. They have one for about $289.00 that will work in my car. Do they special build them to suit your car? What type of warranty do they have? I have a 700r4 that is a non-lockup.

The torque converter you were looking at is a 12" lockup. If you want a non-lockup then the cost is $414.00. This is a Continental 10". The stall can be anywhere from 2,200-2,800 rpm (depending on application). If you are going to run nitrous or supercharge/turbochargit, then you will need anti-ballooning plates. This is an additional $130.00 to the TC cost. If you are under 475 HP/475 lb ft of torque, then the anti-ballooning are not necessary. If you have any questions call me at 800 7763288 Mon-Sat 10-6 PST. Glad too help!!!

If you do go with Art Carr, do not order from the company listed at www.artcarr.com order from www.artcarrtransmission.com Reason being, the Actual guy Art Carr, sold his company, and name, about 5yrs ago to retire. The new guys running the Art Carr company are a$$es. They sell junk. I spent $1500 for a tranny that lasted 1 month. When the real Art Carr heard that his name was going to $hit, he got back in bussiness, but problem is they owned his name. The original company is "Art Carr Performance Products", Art's new company is "Art Carr Transmission Company". I have their 9" non-lockup 3200 stall convertor. Love it.

Art Carr solded his company and name years ago to a person from the Mid East which had no experence in the transmission Ind. He move the company from L.A. To Reno Nv (My busines is located in Reno) to a large warehouse, then moved to a smaller warehouse and finally to even a smaller warehoue. I know this because when they starting laying off I hired one of there main builder (No longer works for me) which told about the problems they were having. In late 2000 a employee of Art Carr came in to my businss and told me they closed up shop and a business in Texas was buying what was left. Art Carr is now trying to get his name back because he never got all his money from the buyer. Last I heard the company Art Carr has a 2 man office not to far from my located takeing phones calls only. If they are producing converters or transmissions it is not here in Reno.
