I have heard two diff stories about swaping shifters. I myself want to do it to and have researched thouroughly. The best way is to take apart the whole dash and AC controls. It is a big PITA!!!!! But supposedly if you are good, you can just lift up the center consol (after the screws are out) and just slide the new one in. Whatever you do please post reults and a detailed description. That would just make my day

Whoever told you that needs their nuts kicked in hard. The truth is you can get away with the center console still in, but it's easier if you just remove the center console and that's it to get at the shifter.
Here's something to help you out doing the install. http://www.iroc-z.com/flashlight/how...rivetrain1.htm

i have to agree with get blown on this one. From looking at the piece, it seems incredibly simple. the instructions say take out the center console, but i can hardly see where its gonna be nessesary. Im getting the car back today, so i'll put it in either today or tomarrow. I'll let you know how it goes, but my prediction is it's gonna be simple. The only hard part i can see is adjusting the stops, and even that doesn't seem very difficult.

I've already installed a Hurst Comp/Plus in my car, it's really strait forward. The stops are not too hard to set. Once it's on you just throw it in 3rd, adjust the stop to just touch, then back it out a 1/4 turn and snug the jamnut. Then throw it in 4th and repeat. Here's my review post https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000749.html
One more thing, there's two bolts holding the center console to the dash. Look at the ADAL(?) port and right next to it you'll see a bolt. Unscrew it and the one on the opposite side of the console. If you don't you'll flip out, cuss and waist an extra 30 minutes trying to figure why you can't get the dam center console out. Trust me LOL

UPDATE: my Hurst Billet/plus shifter is now installed!! man what a difference, i am definately impressed with it. Oh yeah, the installation was disgustingly easy. All i had to do was take the top portion of the center console off so i could remove the bottom boot, and it was done. Took me about 30 min tops.
