How much is it going to cost to rebuild my T-5

The second gear is gone for sure, how much do these typically cost to rebuild? How much if it is just the second gear and syncro?

I just had similar work done this December on my camaro. Here are the cost of the parts off the bill.

Master O/H kit: $420
1-2 Selector Sleeve: $105
2nd Gear: $196.63
Clutch Kit: $276.68

With labor it came to $1587.24

For that amount of money I would recommend looking at some other alternatives. I had an extended warranty so all I had to pay for was the clutch. I'm sure you can get cheaper quotes because the labor here was almost $80 an hour. If you have any more questions email me.

Hope this helped

Damn that's a lot of money. I got a price quote for 500. A tremec is only like 2000, why didn't you go with that?

I agree that $1500 is way to much. I would have swapped a t56, but I only had to pay a $100 deductable and the warranty would not replace a t5 with a t56. If I didn't have the warranty I would have got a t56 hands down. Just make sure you explore all your options before you do anything. Good luck

I actually just ordered my rebuild stuff for mine today. I had to get the rebuild kit which included all blocker rings, bearings, seals, snap rings, etc. That was $140. I also needed a second gear, that was $95. I needed the mainshaft outer ring syncro for 1-2 gear which was $75. And, i needed a reverse idler which came to $47. All together, it was about $370 with shipping. I am good friends with the rebuilder so the labor will probably be about $250 or so. The new clutch pack was $175, and i bought a new flywheel through GM for just under $200. The parts for the tranny i got through Hanlon Motorsports. Have any of you out there dealt with them?? How was their quality of parts?? Hope this helps out - Erik - 86 IROC-Z
