SUPER delayed upshift cause?
At "granny" throttle....won't shift until 4500rpminto 2nd, 3800rpm into 3rd....
My first suspicion is...Time to rebuild the trans, right? Well, it's a 3yr old full rebuilt, 20,000 miles. Never raced (since I bought the car) and never had a problem until now.
When in gear, the clutch discs HOLD, zero slipping. Driving, maybe 10mph while still in first, if I stab the throttle, the car LAUNCHES & the tires are history.
So I feel like everything is good, strong, no worn clutch discs....But there is still that super delayed upshift problem.
This started last Sat. & I changed the fluid out Tuesday. Not a full flush, just a filter & fluid change.
Is there anything that could cause the delayed upshifts? TV cable? Dunno how it could suddenly change though.
HELP?

Broken TV cable or stuck TV if you've got the TV checkball installed, or a stuck governor.

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
But....Isn't the TV in control of downshifts? Not upshifts? If not.....Could it have broken? Why the sudden change?
One minute its fine, next it isn't. Change the fluid, its good. Test drive again a few days later....Bad again.
Doesn't seem to be a pattern.

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
The TV gets stuck in its bore in the valvebody. A TransGo shift kit will fix it, either the SK 700 or the SK 700 Jr.

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
The tranny got a full rebuild 20,000 miles ago & a shift kit put in at that time by the previous owner.....WHAT shift kit & stock or not stall, I dunno.

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
That's the big difference between the TransGo kits and others. TransGo fixes flaws in the transmission, most of the others just make it shift hard. The term "Shift Kit" itself is actually a trademark of TransGo.

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
I adjusted the TV cable, per the FSM...No change.
So I unclipped the TV cable from the TB & it still feels fully connected & retracts, spring loaded, like it should.
The tranny merely feels like line pressure for shifting, is not building. It downshifts after slower down, no problem. Just doesn't like upshifts.
And when in gear, it HOLDS good. A stab of the throttle and the cars GOES, not like the discs are glazed or slipping.

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
The cable will still retract properly if the TV itself is stuck in its bore.

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
What would be the cause & cure? How can it be determined if it is stuck, or what?
This is my first auto, other than the new truck that was under warranty & a 4L60E.

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
Is this possibly the problem? It came loose? And the reason it seems to work off & on, is that it "catches" occasionally?

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
The hooked link attaches to a lever inside the pan that actuates the actual throttle valve in the valvebody. The lever is spring-loaded to always return the cable to the rest position, but this doesn't pull the throttle valve back into its rest position, it has its own return spring in the valvebody. Sometimes the throttle valve and sleeve wear so that they hang up and need to be replaced.

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
OK..This is getting frustrating.
HOW CAN I FIX THIS? You seem to have the answers, but won't supply any.
Can this be accessed from above the case? Does the pane and valve body have to come off/out to fix that?
HELP PLEASE!

Re: SUPER delayed upshift cause?
If the TV cable came loose, I'm not swapping out a 3 yr valve body....For a bad cable connection. Again...For all we know, it has a TransGo in it already.
