Ramifications of TV cable being too tight?

I know if the TV cable is set loose the trans won't have enough line pressure and clutchs and bands will wear faster.

I am aware of how the shifting feel and timing is affected but am curious if there are any BAD side effects of having the TV too tight. ie overheated fluid etc..

You can't make it too tight because when you go WOT, the cable would ratchet out and reset itself!!! This would not be rue ONLY IF cable was ratcheted out all the way before this started, which would be a bracket location problem. You'd move the TV cable bracket towards the nipple. heee heee

Fastbroker is right the cable would readjust itself when you go to wot. The tv cable works against the governor pressure to control shift timing and firmness. It also works to increase the volume of the pump. If you want to jack around with your shifts you can move to bracket farther back but go in small steps, 1/4" at a time. The real way to change shift points is with the governor though.

If you're real careful you can get the TV cable to stay a click or two too tight. Thats how i had mine set until a few days ago. It's the equivalent of 'sport' shift mode like you'll find in newer electronic tranny cars. Slightly delayed part throttle shifts and cleaner kick downs.
The guys are right though, unless you are modifying the bracket i don't think you can make it tight enough to really hurt anything. However, i loosened mine back up b/c i wasn't shifting into 3rd @ WOT (see my other post.) I'm not sure if it was teh TV cables fault, but theirs only one way to be sure.
