Re: TRANYY ???

The 305 trans will bolt right up to your 350. You will need all the rest of the swap parts though. Shifter, crossmember, pedals, connectors, clutch, flywheel, most likely starter, etc.

There are a couple of manual conversion swap threads. I'd search for the specifics.

Some say the t5 won't hold up behind the 350 but I've seen quite a few people running around with a mildly built 350 (~300+ hp to the wheels) that do fine for years. The case and inputshaft bearings are the problems from what I hear. Mount your torque arm off the crossmember, make sure you always have enough fluid in there and don't dump the clutch at 5k and you'll be okay for quite awhile.

However, I would only swap a t5 in if it was just insanely cheap. A t56 would add a bit of weight and complication but it'll hold up to your 350 with no issues.

Re: TRANYY ???

I was going to ask something like this, but rather than make a new thread, I'll just pop in on this one. Ok, when you mean insanely cheap, you mean like an entire 91 GTA for $400 with a T5 in it, right? Even better when the whole car has only 128k KM (not miles) on it, right? Anyway, I am considering throwing the T5 in my 89 GTA which is currently an auto. Why? Because I've never had a stick car to drive...its always been autos, and the both cars were cheap. I would like this car to see occasional 13's at the strip, but its mostly for summer cruising on a budget. Oh, and I've got a bunch of suspension stuff (tq arm, subframes, lca's) to keep it from getting all twisty. What do you think???

slap shifting will occur. smiles will occur. burnouts will be more frequent. clutch nightmares will haunt you if you let them. and you'll smell gear oil on your pillow when you sleep. Faster-Maybe if you're good that's why I stick with auto's because I stink at speed shifts.

Not everyone lives their life a quarter mile at a time... I like to drive my car and thats more fun (to me) with a stick.

Re: TRANYY ???

girls like sticks too. the t56 is the norm. you could get a wiring harness from s&p at www.hotrodlane.cc they also have a catalog with all the swap stuff it's 160 pages. the early t56 used an external slave v.s. internal. Either is o.k. but it sucks to have to pull the trans to fix a leaky slave. Pre 1997 vette's still had the trans behind the engine, or camaro's and ta's newer than yours.

What the the hell are you talking about? Is English your second...maybe third language?

Wiring harness for what?

This "later" t56 you speak of won't bolt up to (well functionally) to a standard GEN I small block.

Pre '97 vettes didn't have transaxles, but they also didn't have t56's. They have ZF-6's.

Please. Stop. Posting.
