Would a 2500 stall be good for me?
I have basically stock car not ahole lot done and was just wondering would this really help me out? If so should i buy a trans cooler to?

i would say it would be ok, a 2000-2200 would be better unless u decide ur gona upgrade the heads/cam etc... the 2500 would be better for a longer duration cam over the stocker and higher flowing heads since your tq band will be moved up. im building a 480hp 383 with a comp cams XFI280 cam with 230/236 duration and it calls for a 2400 stall... so u should stick to more around 2000-2200.
also your trans will benefit from a trans cooler now! heat is the number one cause for killing a trans... heat is your enemy. u want temps to be around 160-200. the closer to 160 the better. u can add years of life to a trans by making it run cooler, your shifts will be alil firmer too. the best ones are the the trans coolers that have there own fans that are set to a 160 temp... remember tho that your trans fluid goes through the radiator first then the trans cooler then back to the trans. if your engine is running at the stock 200-220 range then your trans is easily running at 260...(that trans is not happy and prob wont last nearly as long as one running at 180) the cooling in the stock radiator is not efficent as the coolant for the engine. it cools in a cansiter on the inside of the trans on the side.
a rule is that a higher stall means more slipping in the converter which means more heat is created... a 2500 stall would def require a good trans cooler the same with a 2000-2200 and even a stocker.

My wife had a Vigilante 2800 in her LT1. Dropped 5 tenths off her quarter mile time. She managed to get it down to 12.9 seconds with a 1.7 60ft time. She loved her torque converter.
I'd say 2500 would be about right. Since you have 3.73 gears, it will take less gas pedal to get the car moving.
I've had good success with my Long Tru-Cool LPD 4490 transmission cooler. It's an 11" x 12" stacked plate design. Lots of the LS1 guys with 4000 stalls run it. Has a bypass route on it when the fluid is too cold. And keeps the temp in check very nicely when it's hot out.
I bypassed the radiator with the cooler since I live in a hot climate. Transmission coolers are cheap insurance. I'd recommend one for anybody who's got a shift kit in their car, anybody who lives in a hot climate, or anybody who is often in stop and go traffic. If you plan on driving the car in the winter, then I'd recommend running the cooler with the radiator instead of bypassing it.
