T5 1st and Reverse trouble
Ok, I have a 5 speed manual T5 in my 1989 IROC. It will shift through all the gears. The problem is I have to start it in 1st or Reverse. I can’t start the car then put it into 1st or Reverse. The clutch is just not releasing. I have to grind it to get it in 1st or Reveres once started. If I start it in 1st or Reverse it works till I shift out then won’t go back in to 1st or Reverse till I shut off the engine.
My shop manual states that it is could be the pivot adjust bolt not set properly. So the clutch may not be getting fully disengaged. My question is could it be anything else? Does anyone have any other things I should look at? I have not looked into anything so far. This is how I got the IROC. I would like to know the good bad or ugly before I start.
Thanks
