Just because I was bored... No guarantees how accurate any of the info is, but if you find something wrong with it, let me know.

Also if you want to make sure or do it yourself. Here's the formula:
63360 x axle ratio
_______________________ = answer
3141.6 x tire diameter
Now take that answer and multiply it by the number of teeth on the drive gear (the one inside the tranny on the main shaft)the answer you get will be the nuber of teeth you need on the driven gear (speedometer gear) Round it to the nearest number. I found this formula when I bought a richmond 6 speed, it was in the owners manual. It worked for me my speedo is very accurate.

Actually you're probably best off rounding the number of teeth on the driven gear to the next highest integer, so you've got a little breathing room in case your speedo head reads a little low.

is that diameter the diam. of the wheel or the tire. I figure that its the wheel since the program won't let you go above 20.

Diameter of the wheel, so you can put in the tire size as it's marked on the sidewall without too much thinking.

I have a small question. How come your driven gear part #'s dont match the ones in the FAQ's section? Just curious as to where you got your numbers. The colors match. Maybe that is the only thing that matters?

The numbers in the program are the ones I got from the local GM dealer for cable driven speedometers, they're a gear with a long shaft through it. I'm not sure, but I think the ones in the FAQ are for electronic speedos, and are a similar gear but have a keyed hole instead of the shaft.
If anyone wants, I can put both sets of part numbers in. I also have numbers for speedo gears for Muncie and TH350 transmissions.

D*mn it! I was afraid you were gonna say that. That means I just ordered electronic speedo gears for my car. DOAH! $14 down the drain. Time to start over!

back from the dead...
I was wondering if anyone still had a copy of this program. I realize that it's been nearly 3 years since this was posted, so it's no wonder the link is dead. If anybody's got it, could you link to it or e-mail it to me? Thanks x 1,000,000.

Getting a gear installed in a couple of days. Going from a 2.73 to a 3.73. I think I need to use a 15 and 45 tooth speedo gears. My question is, are these the right gears? Also What is involved in changing the gears? Can you just take the tailshaft apart without taking out the trans and also what is involved when you have the tailshaft apart? Last question. Do you need to order anything else besides the gears like do you need to clips or sleeves or anything? Thank you very much.
