Aluminum Driveshaft questions....
Does anybody know the part numbers for aluminum driveshafts for a 700r4 tranny?
What companies make them(web addresses if possible)?
Also what kind of a performance gain does adding an aluminum driveshaft give you? I know it is more stable at high speeds, and it will alow the engine to rev faster, but will it take time of your 1/4 et, how much?

TPIS makes a 3.5" al d/s
GM makes the 1LE (p/n 10085375) and LS1 (p/n 12564003) al d/s which can be had for around $230 from dal at VanDevere Olds. Shipping was like $8 for me.
Goto www.ws6.com They have a dyno run comparison between the steel and 1LE al d/s.

Thanks for the info. What do you think about carbon fiber driveshafts, are they worth the extra money? What would you expect to pay for one of these? Also is the 1LE driveshaft better than the aftermarket equivelant, or are they basically the same?

I think the fiber is a waste except in very high hp applications. They are about $700-800.
The TPIS is a bit better, but costs more then the 1LE.
