just put a new 700r4 in and it had a performance rebuild, with a 2200 stall converter

so i adjusted the cable the way i read all over here, push it all the way in and floor it and it clicked out, i did that just fine, but now, i can go down the road in drive and it will stay in first the whole way like i can hold 3000 rpm steady and it doesn't shift, but if i mat it it shifts at 5500 hard every shift, but if i go maybe 4 clicks out it shifts like it should, and just about as hard, it should shift around about 2200 with light throttle right? if i set the cable the way that i think is right, will i fry it? the guy that build the trans told me that as long as it doesn't stack the shifts then its ok, and its definitely not stacking them, so is it alright to adjust it out to where i like it?

I am not a trans guy but mine does the same thing when adjusted "the right way" but, I let mine out some as well and it has been fine for almost a year and is the same way now with the 383 and seams fine. just for what thats worth

thanks for the reply carbd, but how much did you let yours out? id say i had to let mine out about 4 clicks or more before it shifted even close to the right time....

not sure how far. I did what it sounds like you did just started moveing it around until it shifted right . my bigest problem was it did not down shift when I would try to excelirate .
