G-Force trans
I was wondering what everyone though about G-Force trans? I have a 383 in front of a mildly built T-5. The T-5 lasted for almost 800 miles before 3rd and 5th are now blown out of it. Im sure a Tremec is the best route but I like how the G-Force bolts right up with out having to chance drive shafts, loops, or crossmembers. I was wondering if anyone is running a G-Force, what drivetran combs they have, and how they like it?

Re: G-Force trans
Here is a link started by someone who is unhappy with G-force. Usually
there is always something to find in the aftermarket review forum.

Re: G-Force trans
yeah, I read this before and was wondering if anyone has delt with them recently. I was going to buy a whole new trans from them I think with the upgraded case. My case has 155, 000 on it and I think it maybe time just to leave it under the bench.

Re: G-Force trans
I have also been paining over the decision about what to get...
I already discarded the idea of the G-Force due to the inherent case issues with a stock case...however...G-Force does offer a beefed up case design for an extra $400 above the cost on the website.
The TKO 600 seems like a good idea too...but no overdrive.
I am leaning heavily towards the LS1 T-56 swap myself. Jegs offers a brand new T-56 for $2,400 and I like that idea instead of $1,500-$2,000 for a used one.
Do a search on Thirdgen for "TPI Terr", I think. You can use the LS1 T-56 with the T-5 bellhousing and clutch assembly, but you need an adaptor plate and a longer pilot bearing to account for the LS1 input shaft. This makes sense for me as I have about 100 miles on a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch (T5).
Plus, the different driveshaft, yoke, crossmember, speedo adaptor, etc.
HTH...

Re: G-Force trans
I made a mis-statement.
What I meant to say about the G-Force is that it only have the single overdrive...and you can't get it in a .50 ratio. Maybe it is splitting hairs...but with my 3.73 gears, I want all the top gear overdrive I can get...and that is even doing 60 mph...

Re: G-Force trans
g-force has a .59 OD but tremec has a .64.. not much difference.. coming from a g-force guy, i would probably go with the tremec.. torque capacity is the same if not more with the tremec.. my g-force was about 2700-2800 and it had most of the upgrades.. the thing i dont like is that g-force said the trans will handle "about" 550-600.. the tremec is 2000 and it doesnt cost 800 to swap it in..
btw, i run a 4.30 gear and at 55mph, its running 1800rpm..

Re: G-Force trans
Does anyone know what is involved with switching from a T-5 to a Tremec and what it cost?
