Bullet proof T5????

I remember hearing discussion about a bulletproof T5 in the past. Now is this just a Tremec 3550 or TKO?? Does anyone sell upgraded internal parts for a T5? Like gears and syncros?

There is no real upgrade for the T5. There's Counter Gear Stabilizer upgrade you can buy and that's about it. Checkout www.5speeds.com and http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...t5/index.shtml

Here's the trans ratings
BW T5 rated at 265 ft lbs
BW WCT5 rated at 305 ft lbs
Tremec 3550 rated at 425 ft lbs
Richmond 6 speed rated at 450 ft lbs
ZF6 rated at 450 ft lbs
94-97 T-56 rated at 450 ft lbs
Tremec TKO rated at 525 ft lbs

I have an 86' Z28 with the 3.35 first gear. What is the torque rating for the trans? Is it 300lbs? I have about 375 and it holds up pretty good.

All 87 and under T5s are rated at 265 ft lbs. Internals between worldclass and old T5 are not interchangeable 88+ are worldclass.

That's not to say a T5 won't handle more then what they're rated at. As long as you don't abuse a T5 it will survive. Chuck E. had a WCT5 behind a 383 for over 2 years and it survived. But you throw on slicks and powershift it your just asking for trouble.
