Hydrolic Clutch for T-10

I am building an 84 Z28. I am using it as my donor body for my 82. I have a Super T-10 and everything that goes w/ it. Everything was working when I pulled it out of the 82.

I went to mount up the Z bar from the Mechanical clutch, and the bolt holes were not there, and that is because the 84 had a hydraulic clutch in it.

Is it possible to get a T-10 bell housing w/ a hydraulic clutch for an 84 Camaro?? Or do I have to fabricate something to make my Z bar work for the mechanical one?? I would like to use the Hydraulic clutch, but whatever is easier/cheaper can also pull some weight.

What would be more cost effective. I have everything for both systems except for the bell housing for the hydraulic clutch.

Re: Hydrolic Clutch for T-10

-You can drill holes in your frame and hook up the z-bar (less than ideal).
-You can buy a macleod bellhousing ($400), and put that on your T-10, then buy and use 1985 camaro clutch parts. ie the master and slave cylinders, etc.
-You can buy a hydraulic throw out bearing, and rig that up.

Pick your poison. Personally i've tossed my z-bar and am setting up a hydraulic TO bearing from Howe racing. Air_adam, another T-10 user here, has ditched his z-bar and is using the macleod BH. To each his own.

I already have the master and slave cylinders and such. I think I should buy the hydraulic throw out bearing and make that work. Is that all I would need. Would it mount to the 82 bell housing ok? 400 dollars is a bit steep for a bell housing, but if that is what I have to do that is what I will do.

If the hydraulic TO bearing is able to be set up with your existing master cylinder, then yes, you'll just need that.
It's a lot cheaper than buying that mega expensive BH, IMHO.

If you look around a bit, you can get those bellhousings for reasonably cheap. I got mine for about $200. Just waiting for the clutch hydraulics to show up now.

Where did you find the Bell Housing, because I am thinking that the hydraulic clutch is not just going to bolt up...and I am putting over 400 ponies behind it soon. 200 bucks is within reason for something to bolt right up.

That bellhousing (actually called a scattershield) would be a smart investment at your intended power level anyway, regardless of what clutch system you use, especially if you use a factory-type cast flywheel. If that flywheel comes apart, the chunks will go right through a stock bellhousing, often through the engine block and the floorboards as well.

That Lakewood scattershield is an 'explosion proof bellhousing' which is made of very heavy guage steel and is designed to contain the shrapnel of a clutch/flywheel coming apart. Thats most of the reason I got one, the hydraulic clutch provisions was just a huge bonus.

I actually found mine on the classified section of this board here, but I've also seen them on Ebay and other 3rdgen/4thgen websites as well (www.camaroz28.com has a MASSIVE classified section - mostly 4thgen, but lots of 3rdgen too).
