Do a search here for Dana at Probuilt transmissions. He has a site and sells the rebuild kits in various stages. I brought from different people and by the time I got every piece I needed and shipping I would have been WAY better off just buying his kit and only having one person to deal with. Every piece you buy the quality will be suspect. The more people you buy from getting great deals the more chances your going to get something thats not right. If I had it all to do again I would just do the one stop shopping and call it a day.

The Hughes kits seem descent. I haven't tried one but I have looked at the contents. I am not sure about pricing, but Pro Built does put together some nice kits as well as transmissions.

Is this just a rebuild or do you have a need for a stronger/better tranny? This makes a big difference as to what you must buy and do to the transmission.

well I was looking at a kit from "eat my shift".com. they have a kit for $350, but Im not sure if everything Im gonna need is in the kit. Im tryin to get the most outta my buck basically. I want something that I can have faith in driving all week, but still bein able to play at the track on the weekend. I plan on an L98 swap by the beginning of next year. So I def need it to be better by being stronger.

Re: 700R4 Rebuild kits ??'s

Ever shop for a rebuild kit for a engine? Ever notice all the different prices? The quality of the parts in each kit are different. 1 kit will sub a cheap set of gaskets instead of fel-pro. Another will put cheap bearings in it instead of clevite.

The kit/guy I spec'd out has everything your looking for in quality parts for one price. Buy a incomplete kit next thing you know you are buying the boost valve or bigger (than the kits) boost valve... you didn't get the right reverse boost valve or you got cheap sprags, inferior clutches etc. Either way good luck.

Re: 700R4 Rebuild kits ??'s

I went with a stock rebuild kit, beast shell, 13 vane pump, kevlar band, and ProBuilt shift kit... not sure which one, but the one that is personally modified.
Glad I got that. Night and day difference. It should be stressed that the holes in the separator plate for the valve body need to be drilled to size, not a little larger. Tires break loose going into 2nd anywhere around 2k rpm on a stock 305 TBI. Not sure how long the U joints will last though. Whole car lunges when going into drive with the high idle during warmup.

I would suggest just going with the whole kit from ProBuilt. I'm glad I didn't because I didn't set the TV cable right and burned up 3-4 clutch pack after about 50 miles, so I rebuilt it again. Got it set right this time and I can feel the car pull to one side on a really good day at WOT during shifts. The 4.11 gears might have something to do with it though.
