700r4 transmission
hey i just bought a 1986 camaro about 2 weeks ago. and i have noticed that my transmission is searching between 2nd and 3rd gears when going 35 to 45 mph. is there anyway i can fix this without having to rebuild the whole transmission.
also it only has a v6 and i don't have enough money to buy a 350 though i would like to. is there anyway to make it powerfull. like a turbo or something pleez help

Re: 700r4 transmission
check the fluid level & condition. if burnt not much to do but rebuild. if fluid level low, check for leaks. if condition & level ok, i would suggest getting into the tranny. as for 2.8, try to find a wrecked car with a 350. that way you have the wiring, comp., brackets, etc. that you will need. they are out there, just have to be patient.

Re: 700r4 transmission
hey thanks alot well i checked the fluid level and it was low but i put some transmission fluid in it and now its full. but still its searching my friend mentioned a cable that came up by the fuel injection that might need to be reset but i wasn't sure. do you know anything about this? and what do you think is a good price for a rebuild kit if it comes down to that thanks

Re: 700r4 transmission
I have recently bought a rebuild kit from autozone for $100.00 or so and it came with everything. However, the transmission is full and everything but it only shifts into reverse and first gear thats it. i was wondering if anyone could help steer me in th right direction. I did replace the clutch packs in there but didnt rebuild the pump. maybe its something small that i am just overlooking. Is there a vacume line im missing or electircal problem. any help would be greatly appreciated. ( 1990 camaro 3.1 liter v-6 automatic trans)

Re: 700r4 transmission
I'm not sure when 700r4 became 4L60E, but if it is a 700r4 is the throttle valve cable hooked up and adjusted? If there is no tension on the cable it will shift really late.
