performance minded 700r4 rebuild cost

about how much you guys think it would cost to rebuild a 700r4 to support 500-600hp/tq? i have been tossing around the idea of getting a th400 for this but i cant seem to find one and if so the prices are so i was just wondering about how much it would cost and what would need to be upgraded in the 700r4 to live happily behind a 500-600hp/tq motor.

Between the cost of the ProBuilt street/strip rebuild kit, Edge 9.5" 2600 stall
converter, trans removal, trans kit install and trans installation, I will be (haven't had the installation done yet) in for about $2200.....wait, I have to go....my boss wants to know if I can work this weekend

well i think in the end the th350 or 400 would still be cheaper, thats alot more than i figured although trans instal and removal wouldnt be needed.

Your better off with a 350 rather than a 400. 350 has less fitment issuues all the way around and also takes less hp to use.

Re: performance minded 700r4 rebuild cost

although it may have less fittment issues i am not sure that the th350 would hold up to much better. Plus i was planning on getting a spohn torque arm with th400 crossmember. i was looking through this classifieds thing we get and i just found a short tail shaft th400 for $100. i dont know if i should call the guy tomorrow or not whats is the weak points of the th350 and the th400 and roughly estimated how much would it cost to build each to suit my needs. i just dont know what to do you guys. thanxs for any help

400 weighs more. 350 can be build just as strong for your use

A properly built 350 can take a ton of abuse. If you go the 400 route you need to look in too new drive shaft( you will on the 350 anyway) crossmember, torque arm, and you are limited of headers also.

Re: performance minded 700r4 rebuild cost

go probuilt. 3.06 first gear and overdrive are always nice. it costs more, no doubt about it, but why jump backwards in technology. cost will be ofset anyways changing out all the other components to compliment the 350.

probuilt.

Re: performance minded 700r4 rebuild cost

Parts for a 350 are cheaper still have to build the crap out of it to handle the horsepower you want.

Re: performance minded 700r4 rebuild cost

I purchased the street/strip rebuild kit from ProBuilt and had a local shop rebuild my original stock 700R4. Parts, converter and labor cost me a little over $1200. But then again, you need it to hold up to more horsepower.
