What stall?
what would be a good agressive stall speed with 350 HP and 3:73 rears? something that is aggressive yet still fine to drive around town?

Re: What stall?
What type of cam do you have? Match it with that, and make it a lock-up converter.
By match i mean, if you look at the cam-card (if its aftermarket), it gives you a range of where it makes power. High hp ones start higher up, like 4400-7000rpms, and mild ones go from idle-5500 rpms or so.
Match it with the lower end of the range. If its stock, or the power range starts at idle, you probably want less than 2200 stall, 1800 is probably a good number with lockup. Hope that helps.

Re: What stall?
I have a 2900 stall with lockup with 3.73 gears and runs perfect on the street. I have the vigilante. Cost around 600 but will take everything you throw at it.

Re: What stall?
Heres a trick to help you figure out where you make power. Get on a straight road, where you can kinda see the horizon. Make sure no kids are around.
Drop it down to first, sit with ur head on the back rest, and try to keep still. Get on the throttle kinda hard (dont spin the wheels, and try not to engage the stall too hard). The car will accelerate, and the nose will rise up. It will continue to accelerate, but the nose will kinda start to go down.
As SOON as it goes down, thats ur high end hp rpm range. Similarly, you can kinda judge where the car REALLY starts to make power. Try to watch ur rpms, its tricky to do, u will have to do it 2 or 3 times to figure it out.
With what you mentioned, it sounds like you need about 3000 maybe even 3500 if u really wanna hook hard, but definately get a lock up.
Id aim for 2800-3000.

Re: What stall?
that's what I was thinking, 2800 with a lock up. I got my cam specs today and called a few places my lift @50,000 (whatever?) is 244. I was told that I would need at least a 3000-3400, but I"m not draggin it, just a street car that I want to have good accelleration at it's power band. My engine builder recommended at least a 2500. he said the motor pulls hard 3000-6500.
I talked to a tech at monster transmission and they said TCI is the only compnay that builds lock ups with anything over 2800 that is that small. is that true? If that is the case I'll have to look at TCI and look for a 2800-3200. any thoughts?

Re: What stall?
TCI is pretty well known for their transmission related products. They can even build you a custom one. I see your running a 2004R so thats kinda tricky. I would go with TCI, and i would go atleast 3000 if your cam is 3000-6500.
Remember that the Flash stall rating varies depending on what car you drive. No matter what, i would defnately speak to a tech before you buy once uve decided what you want.
For example, if your running a big block chevelle, the same torque converter will flash at around 3200rpm, but in a small firebird, probably 2900 or 3000 or so.

Try Art Carr, they have really good torque converters. They will custom build one for you for around 520 ish. Thats going to be your best bet

Re: What stall?
I've got a Street Edge converter that I'm not using. It's 9.5", 2800 stall with lockup. The car I had it in sits most of the time so the converter has less than 1K miles on it. 2800 stall was to much for me so I took it out and used an 1800-2200 stall.
