driveshaft difference(700R4-TH350)
Can anyone tell me how much I need to lengthen my driveshaft? Originally had a 700R4, now swapped to TH350 with the 6" tailshaft housing. I already modified my crossmember. When I searched around before posting my question I found a lot of estimates, but no real measurements. I'm guessing my driveshaft needs be around 1 3/4" longer?

I called my local machine shop and got a price for a longer driveshaft and it came to be over $150! Is it just me or is this really expensive? Is there ANY other way I can come across a longer and correct length for less money?

Well I have gone to salvage yards and did the measurement thing , You need a shaft 3 inches longer than you have now, Would have been easier in that respect if you had gone with a 9 inch tail 350 for obvious reasons.

Re: driveshaft difference(700R4-TH350)
Yup, about 3 inches longer. $150.00 is not expensive for a new driveshaft. Remember this will be straight and balanced. Well, it should be anyway. Should have new U-joints in it also. You get what you pay for. Sometimes there are no cheap ways. only other solution is to grab a tape measure and head to the junk yards. You might find one long enough. And if your lucky, it may be straight and have half way decent U-joints. But then again, it may not. How much is your time worth?
