700r4 behavior questions
Hi there everyone !
I wanted to know what the following behavior of my 700R4 would tell me :
When cold :
-Very hard 1-2 shift (2500-2700 rpm)
-Harsh 2-3 shift (normal rpm)
When hot (15-20 minutes of driving)
-Everything normal
-4/3 downshifts as its supposed to
-No 3-2 downshift
My Iroc has 182,000 kms on it, i don't think the transmission has ever been rebuilt. My question really is : is this behavior a sign of wear on a particular part of my 700R4 ? Should i be worried of anything breaking soon ?
There will be (in a season or two) a complete rebuild of this transmission by a shop but in the meantime i'd like to keep it safe and stock. It's still being fed by an LG4 with only an open element as modification.
How much abuse can this transmission take ? I'm really used to manuals, but i really like driving the automatic to the redline. I'm not doing hard launches but i like to keep the engines RPM a little high.
Have a nice day everyone !
Thanx !
