A few 700r4 Questions (Transgo kits, lockup etc)
Well after slowly killing my old tired original 700r4, I have an other reco'd one on its way.
Now what I'm chasing is a strong, very firm shift that will give me a bit of life out of this box.
The box im getting comes with this receipt;
I am told that the 2/3 and 3/4 clutches are all new, the bands are new plus a few other bits and pieces.
Before I put it into the car I wanted to get a few things sorted.
1. I wanted to convert the car to a non-lockup style auto. From the bit of reading I've done, I under stand that the main thing i need with a non-lock up is more line pressure, so whats involved in making that happen? And are there any other mods needed to use a non-lockup converter?
2. I wanted to install/get installed either a Transgo Stage 2/3 Valve body kit (the reprogramming kit) or the cheaper Trango Stage 2/3 Shift kit. But I'm not sure what the practical differances are and what suits my needs better. I want the firmest, most efficient shift I can get, and would like manual control.
3. And any other mods/upgrades that you could recommend for a guy building a box within a bit of a budget? I understand that both those Transgo kits come with a vette servo and a 0.500" boost valve already so anything else that needs to happen?
