you need a different Driveshaft, torque converter, and either a new tranny crossmember or a torque arm relocation kit. and a different shifter/ shift gate for the stock shifter. depending if you want you're speedo to work you'll need the appropriate conversion kit

hey he doesnt ned a different shaft if he uses the right length of th350

ppl dont seem to understand this for some reason

9" tail th350 is the same as a 700r4

...

also an 88 would not have a th350, not from factory

none existed in 88

the th350 went away in 86

and you dont have to swap the shifter, the 700r4 shifter will work just fine, just that you will have an extra range on the shifter that is unused, the shifter will work just the same, jut fine

move the crossmember forward

have to get 700r4 to th350 brackets for the TQ arm mounting

700r4 = 4 spee auto with overdrive

th350 = 3 speed auto no overdrive

totally different trannies

700r4= deep and huge rectangle pan and with square plastic wiring plug in, 16 bolts

th350= corner hacked off the pan and no plastic electrical plug at all, 13 bolts

there is a flat spot somewhere along the pan rail or near the bellhousing with a code stamped in it, the first digit will bea number, it is the last number of the year of the tranny

for example if it starts with 6 then its either 1976, 86, or 96

good luck

alright i looked at it, and its a 16 bolt, with a plastic plug outlet thing, and has a long rectangular pan. its out of a 88 so would it work in my car. or would it be easy to make it work cause i can get it for free or hardly nothing.

all gm output tailshafts are the same except for the th400 derivatives, 475, 3L80, 425 etc and the top loader manual trannies like the CH465 and SM420 and NP435 and so on

good luck

Re: turbo 350

oh ok its a 4x4 one

nope wont work

4x4 doesnt have or use an output shaft housing

the four bolts that bolt outputshaft housings for 2wd vehicles are used to bolt the adapter to it instead of the shaft housing

plus the 4x4 shafts are shorter than the 2wd ones

you need a 2wd 700r4

heres a 4x4 one i hd not too long ago, and the adapter for the transfer case:

heres a 4x4 th400

heres an old th350 bolted to a 203 case:

good luck

Re: turbo 350

nope

the only way possible is if you could hire someone to tear down that tranny and put a 2wd output shaft in it

the shaft is the first part that goes in the case

good luck
