What GM Vehicles Came Standard G80
I was wondering, what GM vehicles have either the optional G80 limited slip or most likely will have it standard from the factory. What year vehicles and kinds because I'm looking for a good used unit but instead of going through each GM vehicle's RPO codes and years I would rather cut it down to only a few years, Makes, and Models. It's a '90 Camaro with 7.625 10 Bolt 3.08 open carrier I do believe. I havent checked the Tach for accuracy yet but I will soon.

So really what your asking is which vehicles came with a corporate 10 bolt that might have a posi you could use?

The good ones are being saved & not scrapped. So good luck on finding what you want.

Try corvette, gran national, monte carlo, s-10 p/u, s-15 jimmy.
OR, just rebuild your existing unit and add some new gears and an auburn diff.
Why go used...........

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Corvette = Dana 44 = won't fit
GN = 8½" 10-bolt = won't fit
MC = Auburn = total POS, usually completely worn out, also VERY VERY RARE
S truck = Eaton Gov-Lock = grenade, worse than a POS
The ONLY junk one worth getting is the 98-02 (LS1) carrier. It's a Zexel Torsen. However, it won't fit your 2 series (grocery cart) gears. It will only work with a 3.23 or higher ratio.
The other stock ones are not worth the fluid you'll have to buy to change them out. Or, in the case of the Gov-Lock, they're WORSE than an open.... at least an open doesn't explode.

Hey Sofa, you can actually get the zexel-torsen units in 2 series too. Not that I'd want a 2 series model, but they are available since quite a few of the 98-up f-bodies got posi with the 2.73 ratio.

Be careful also, the Zexel axle shafts are about 2" longer if it has the 4 wheel disc ABS on it. Also I think all rears 89+ are 28 spline and the 82-88's are 26 spline.
I dunno about between a 2 series and 3 series with the 4 Gen rears. With the 3rd gens you can get a solid bearing spacer and use 3 series gears in a 2 series carrier.

Whoa, lots of misinformation there. I think you're actually referring to a ring gear spacer, not a solid spacer. A ring gear spacer will allow you to use a 3 series ring gear on a 2 series carrier. A solid spacer is for the pinion gear. It replaces the crush sleeve, and can be used on any 82-02 ten bolt rear. It give the pinion shaft more stability than a crush sleeve. Trust me, the zexel-torsen carriers came in both 2 and 3 series. I had to watch out for that when I bought my 3 series torsen off ebay. I saw quite a few 2 series units for sale too. Axle length doesn't make any difference if you're just looking to run the carrier. All you need is a set of 28 spline axles from a 90-92 thirdgen. They didn't change to 28 spline until late in 89, so most 89's still have 26 spline axles. My 89 had 26 spline axles in it originally. ABS 4th gens have a reluctor ring on the carrier, but it has nothing to do with the length of the axles, although all 4th gen axles are roughly 2 inches longer than 3rd gen axles.

Thanks for the information everyone. I'm looking for a junkyard unit because of obvious cost differences. I'm not the richest man alive but don't worry, I won't buy a half baked Limited Slip or Locker and hope it will stand up.
