If these dont work tell me one that does.

And if they do which one is better?
and is that a good price for them??

I was also reading about some "boost valve" for this shift kit.

Is this all that is??

Hello GTA_91,
I am by no means a shift kit expert, but I did install one on my car with very nice results! I used the Transgo 700-2&3 kit. It has the Competition, heavy duty, off road and pro-street; with Optional stick shift. What that boils down to is this is a serious shift kit with lots of modifications. You don't nescesarily have to take the trans apart but there are a few OPTIONAL items like firmer clutch springs included in this kit that require the trans to be dissassembled. The vast majority of required mods are done in the valve body and the surrounding case area. As long as you keep everything clean and follow the directions closely you should'nt have any problems. I would also recomend going with a corvette servo and a .500 boost valve as well. These all work in unison to give you firm crisp shifts. I just finnished my install over the holiday weekend and it performs amazingly. When I accelerate hard is when it works the best. Because I have an open rear end I do get a jerk to the right when it shifts from 1st into 2nd but all the other shifts are smooth!
Here's one on Ebay! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/700R4...QQcmdZViewItem
Good luck!!!
BTW, I also had a problem with the kit I ordered! The kit was a couple of parts short. I called Transgo up and they were very friendly and within a few days I had those parts delivered to me for free!! Very good customer service!!

both of those are the same kit, just different boxes. it is the jr. shift kit. not much to it. at least get the one that 92 Heritage RS shows in his post. it is more extensive and has the proper boost valve already in it. what i would do if i were you and didn't work in a tranny parts place is get hold of Dana(Pro Built Automatics) and talk to him. he modifies the 700 2&3 kit. from talking to him, it is a really good kit.

To get the smooth part throttle shifts, you will need the 700-2-3 & the Junior. I combine the two kits, to get the best of both worlds. If you have any questions on this let me know.

Not to sound like an idiot or anything but what does a shift kit do/modify anyway. I am going to attemt to rebuild my 700r4 that has no reverse at all. And I want to get a rebuild kit w/ a shift kit included. Just wanted to know what they do exactly to see if its worth the extra 50 bucks.

^I purchased a modified shift kit from him (Pro Built Automatics), and I am 100% pleased. Under normal driving, the trans feels stock with nice smooth shifts. Get a little heavy on the throttle, and the shifts become more hard/crisp/snappier. When I go wide open throttle, I get a nice hard shift. I got a video in my sig of a before and after. The downshifts are also much harder/quicker/snappy.

Well 87CamaroMan, from what I can tell, the modifications to the valve body are intended to increase fluid pressure in certain areas to create firmer shifts. You are actually drilling into key areas of the valve body to allow fluid to bypass into other areas. They also provide different valve springs than OEM to put more or less resistance on specific valves in the valve body. Reprogramming kits like the one I used come with significantly firmer clutch springs to increase clutch pressure as well. It isn't nescessary to use them, but everything works together to provide the performance you're looking for from these kits! I hope this helps you. Good luck!
