Non computer controlled 700R4

Hey ive got an 83 camaro z28 that came stock with the crossfire injection and the 700r4 tranny. I've decided to convert to carburetor and i wanted to keep my 700r4 for the extra gear. Since the tranny is not computer controlled to lock up what can i do now? ive looked at other forums and they say B&M makes a wiring kit just for the tranny and so does TCI. ive talked to my local westbay autoparts for advice and they told me all i need is a toggle switch to manualy lock it up. the only problem with that is it wont disengage when you slow down under 40 because its manually locked. The kit from B&M and TCi kits are over 150$ is there a cheaper way manually lock the tranny?

You can wire a 4th gear only lock up for pennies. Run 12 volts ignition power to terminal a of the lock up connector. Pull the pan and run the red solenoid wire to the same (internal) terminal a. Run the ground wire to the normally open 4th gear switch in the valve body. That is all there is to it. If you do not like the 4th only lock up, you can then buy an aftermarket kit.

Bowtie Overdrives has quite a few kits for lock up, and at some reasonable prices.
