How to check a used torque converter
I came across a B&M holeshot 2400 torque converter for a 700R4 30 spline for a mere $45. Is there anyway for me or for a tranny shop to check this unit before I put it into my car?

Not really, I mean, buying a used converter is pretty much a toss-up. But the other thing is that I have never really heard of one going bad. Usually if a trans breaks, its something else, not the converter.

Does it really? I've never seen it in my experiences with broken trannies. Friend of mine re-used his converer 2 times when he kept breaking his th350. Guess it could happen though.

It depends what breaks. It doesn't mean that the converter is ruined, just that it's a shot in the dark.
