axle movement in my 9 bolt

I am about to put a 9bolt in my car and I pulled on both of the axles and the left(drivers) side axle moves about 3/16th of an inch!

Is this normal

little bit high I think, but not unusual. The 9 bolt is still a c-clip rear isn't it?

Bolt in axles on the 9 bolts.

Not sure on what axle play should be, but there always has to be some.

Try checking the manual for a spec.

Re: axle movement in my 9 bolt

Man, I spent the day at the shop today trying to diagnose the dreaded "Speed Based 55MPH Vibration" that everyone with an F-Body seems to get, and found play in both my axles as well. It's around 40 thou, not quite 3/16, but theres still play. I think they are all like that. Unless you get wierd shakes above 55, I wouldn't worry about it.

Let me know what you find.
