I just got a 87 iroc posi carrier today for 26 spline 10 bolt and I wanna put it in my 88 camaro sport coupe with 10 bolt. The posi carrier is for 2.73 gears just like mine, but I only have the ring gear on it. I wanna know for sure that my car has 26 spline axles like it, and I think it would be best to just put my original ring gear on the posi carrier so the gears would be wore the same amount. Im not sure if I need posi additive or just 80w-90 I would like to do it right. Thanks for any help or advice you are willing to give, It will be greatly appreciated!!!

the best, tried and true way of finding what spline axles you have is to pull them out. Not too hard though, but Im bettin you have 26 in yours. IIRC, 89 was the changeover year to the 28 splines. And I would agree with you on swapping out your gears to the posi. I wouldnt think it would be a good idea to mix and match gearsets, expecially when you have a good matching set you can throw in.

Im not sure about the posi additive though, might have to get someone else to ring in on that one.

if your 88 carrier is original you have 26 spline, something you might of checked before you got the new carrier. you need to keep the ring and pinion together, they're matched sets. you need posi additive if you have a clutch type posi.
