there are no "good" cheap 700r4's.
- to dan - yeah yeah yeah... somewhere between your stuff, my parents house remodel, everybody elses' stuff I might get to work on my own car... Besides, you're on that special loaner program. I've got your car with the trans out and you've got my chico blazer.....ice ac and 12 pack console....

- Another guy Dan still works with, and I used-to, has had 3 700r4's built at two different shops near orlando. All supossedly hi-po rebuilds, none of which lasted more than 6k behind a stock GM 350 crate motor(maybe 275hp)

Not in Central Florida, but in Tarpon Springs (just North of Tampa).

Maddog Transmissions. He rebuilt mine with all the goodies (see my sig) for I think it was like $700 total.. 18 months later and it still pulls hard. In fact I think tonight I just busted something in the rear on my way home from work. Heard a loud bang as it shifted.

Mad Dog Transmissions - The Godfather of Transmissions!

He has them rebuilt in stock, so you should be able to drive in (if it still is driveable) and he can have you back on the road.. I had him rebuild my original, I wanted the original back in case I want to do a resto later... Had it back the next week.

He does ship too... Call and ask for Lou, he's the owner and a great guy. Knows Camaro's!!!

im sorry but that isnt a built trans i had one with more than that and 22 months of hard pounding it took out the rear planetary i got a pic. with a couple other parts. im putting in a 5 pinion planetary with a superior servo which shifts 35% harder than the corvette with a 2600 stall. wait a couple more months and tell me how good that rans is working i havent heard anything good about that guy. someone on this site bought one from him and it lasted a whole 2 days i got and will conttinue to get my parts from PATC.com Later Daniel

Call Hartline Performance and ask to talk to Cal.

Find out who does his trannies and go there.

Cheaper isnt always better in the case of trans.

Your prolly looking at $1k for just the trans itself built and modified competently.

Dont go with a cheap converter either. The extrs $300 you save will come back to haunt you in driveability and mileage.

which kingsbridge cause i work at the tire kingdom right there on mitchell hammock and lockwood so if you ever need anything. well you wouldnt see me in my car cause its been down for about 3 months look for a blue and white mid-80's blazer lower w/ a cowl hood. thats what im driving at the moment. i dont work tomorrow but the rest of the week the best thing to do is drive behind it if you dont see the blazer im not there. ya i think i remember that. we should get together do you go to the track?

Dans87GTA. Sorry you have a bad opinion of Maddog transmissions.

He has been great with me. I have sent a couple people his way with no complaints.

its all good man. i have been dealing with PATC.com and so far they have treated me really well. im just telling what i have heard good luck i hope it works out good for you. but i wouldnt say you have a built trans by any means dont mean to sounds like a ****. but i shift kit isnt built. it takes more than that. Ya man stop by some time ill see what you have done see if i can give you any ideas also look at that throttle response issue you have. ill be looking forward to it. Later Daniel

No Prob. I don't think I ever claimed it was "built" just rebuilt... It was completely gutted and replaced with all kinds of goodies (new clutch packs, etc), not just what I listed. Should hold to 450hp, but I plan on keeping this thing close to stock, it's not a racer, but lots of fun when the rice burners pull up next to me

All the issues are gone... Throttle response was a combination of FPR diaphram gone bad, along with some timing adjustments. Loud bang out back turned out to be a busted tranny mount, etc. She's all good now.

BTW... PATC.com???? I end up going to Police Agency Training Council....

ya i know what you mean the ricers they were fun when i was stock but now that i just blow their doors off i like competion dont want to sound like im bragging but i just havent found one yet to give me a good run but anyways. i like pulling up next to mustangs cause just about everyone with a mustang thinks their so fast now there some out there that are no doubt. anything can be made fast with alot of money. As for PATC.com i dont know why that doesnt work but try 700Raptor.com that will work they have alot of nice stuff good pricing too. ill have to take a look at mad dog like i said i dont want to come off like a **** we are on the same team. im here to make friends. Later Daniel

I'm with you Dan. That other link worked.. Hopefully I won't need to buy a new tranny for quite a while

I am thinkking that I do have close to 130k on this stock engine, might have to start saving my pennies for a new one soon

No hard feelings!?!?!

well im not sure if you do your own work my dad owns a machine shop and they do boring and turning cranks, valve jobs, 3 angle, competition valve jobs pretty much you name it they do it other than port and polishthats one thing i want to bring into his show. so keep that in mind im not sure how far you live. but im pretty sure they will be cheaper than anyone you can find. what do you have in mind for your motor?

- just for note, there are atleast 2 threads on here about problems with maddog transmissions. Several people have contributed on the threads with broken transmissions and no one standing behind the warranty or even calling them back. Failed clutches, failed pumps, failed hard parts, etc. Hard parts break from time to time, but the rest is builder error or inferior parts.
I started doing my own because I couldn't find a shop in Fl worth a flock. Every trans I tried or knew someone who tried didn't last.
I deal with PATC. Better parts for lower $. Good customer service, good parts, just a great company. - the vette servo is for stock rebuild in my book. Performance applications either go billet or tow home......
