Original Color of the BW 9 bolt
Maybe a little bit off topic ...
I´m in the process of rebuilding the rear suspension of my GTA. The rear axle is disassembled now, at the beginning of the next week it will be media blasted and then powder coated.
I assume the right color will be semi gloss black. Can someone confirm this?
Thanks
I've also asked this question in the History/Restauration Forum -> https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...or-bw-9-a.html

I have a 9-bolt, but it's in an 87 iroc. It's the original rear, never repainted, and the paint that remains on it is semi gloss black. Don't know if that would be the same in your bird though.

I do know that my origional 3.42 10 bolt was unpainted. I also know the 9 bolts were painted an orange/red color inside the housing. Does the color you wish to paint, have to be correct for a show car? If I were to take a guess, I would say satin, or semi gloss black. Seems everything from the torque arm, panhard, LCAs are semi, so why not the rear too. I had my 9" powdercoated gloss black, from Currie, and it looks fantastic. Too bad you have to get on your knees to look at it.

The axle is out of the car at the moment and its nearly impossible to say which color it was 18 years ago...
I want to keep the car as original as possible, thats the reason for my question.
