How much torque can a t-5 handle before it blows apart?

The weak part of a stock setup is the clutch. I blew the disc into a hundred pieces a couple weeks ago with 215hp. I know a couple local guys with stock T5's behind mild L98's and they've lasted a few years so far but they don't race. I also have a customer with a turbo V6 4th gen that put 430hp/490tq to the wheels through a stock T5.

i'm really not sure were a good place to get a T5 rebuild kit is, but i have always wondered if there was a good kit that beefed these trannys up a bit so they can handle more torque.

The clutch has nothing to do with the tranny's weakness at all. If you have a shop and are telling customers this, then maybe you should hire someone more informed.
Stock T5 is good for around 300ft/lbs of abuse, WC-T5 supposedly 330ft-lbs. I've been running a WC-T5 behind my pretty healthy 383ci for a while and it's been flawless so far. No powershifting or they'll pop, just like any other tranny will. if you don't shock load it, they can last a while. usually the 3rd gear goes out in them cause people tend to shift the 2-3 hard. The gears strip, synchro's fall apart...
There's a company called G-force that makes kits, and also builds up T5's to handle 600+ft-lbs. I know the mustang guys use something called an "X" kit? too to beef theirs up as well, which would work fine as long as you retain our bellhousing.
