2.8 v6 to 700r4
the 700r4 is out of an 84 blazer and im putting it in my 88 camaro that had a 2.8 in it. i've read the engine swap sticky but still have a few questions. it says i have to change the tail on any tranny that is not out of an f body but will the tail from the v6 tranny work? will i need to change the cross member under the tranny? will i need a new stabilizer that connects the rear end to the tranny? and will i need to get a new driveshaft?

what size motor does the blazer have?
does the camaro still have the 2.8?
if the blazer had a 4 or 6 cyl. in it and the camaro still has the 2.8, take the tail housing and the speedo gears(drive and driven) that were originally on the camaro, put them on the tranny from the blazer, and install in camaro. you will not need a new crossmember, torque arm, or driveshaft.
if the blazer has a v-8 and it is also getting swapped into the camaro, same thing.
if the blazer has a v-8 and you are leaving the 2.8 in the camaro, then it won't work as the bellhousing is a different bolt pattern.

the tranny is a 700r4 out of a full size blazer with a v8 going into a camaro that had a v6 in it. im doing a motor and tranny swap at the same time.

ok. since the motor and tranny both are going into the camaro, take the existing tail housing and speedo setup off of the 700 that was in the camaro and put it on the one out of the blazer. then install it in the camaro. you will not need to change torque arm, driveshaft, or crossmember. the difference between the v-6 700 and the v-8 700 is the bell housing and some internal components. the mounting for the torque arm and the crossmember will be the same. so will the drive shaft. for clarification, the v-6 tail housing will work as it is the same as the v-8 one in the camaro.
