Using an auto torque arm mount on a T5.
I read on here that some people have done it. and right now ive got everything except the torque arm mount for the t5 swap. is it possible to use the 700r4 torque arm mount on the t5? i heard somebody like drilled out the rivets and switched over the bushing or something? not really sure, but he never answered the several pms i sent him asking about it. anyhow, does anybody know about this? its an 86 z with a t5 from an 88 z. thanks a lot.

I tried to use a T5 mount on my 700R4, and it would not work. The long studs on the mount, are in different locations, that would not allow it to go through the holes in the tailshaft. I had to aquire an auto mount. HTH.

I did the exact opposite as you did, went from a T5 to a 4L60E. The shape of my T5 torque arm appears to be the opposite as what an automatic would be. I am trying to get one from a guy, and since he's basically giving it to me for free, I would sell mine for a low price when i get my new one, which should be soon.

I am pretty certain that the torque arms between the 700r4s and the 4L60E is the same because externally they look the same and the only difference between the two is the latter is computer controlled. There's like a clamshell-like thing that holds the end of the torque arm to the transmission. The bushing (rubber piece) is held in by rivets, what that person probably did was take out that piece of rubber by drilling the rivets then changing the rubber shape to match that of the torque arm.

nope, you can use the same torque arm for 700r4-t5 swaps. most people would include a torque arm mount on the tranny. problem is mine was sent to a mechanic and freshened up years ago and then it was sold to me, but never used after once it was done. the torque arm mount was removed for things like repainting so i dont have it. 99% of the time, the buyer will recieve a torque arm mount with their tranny, its basically part of it.
