700R4 shift problem

Hey, I'm a noob so this will double as an intro. I'm 17, own a 1985 Camaro. 355 sbc for motivation. Headers, ypipe, 3" cat-back (no cat), Edelbrock Performer EPS intake, and a 600 Holley carb sums up the mods...cam coming soon.
Sorry for the quality, cameraphone=not too good pics.

Yes, I know it's sideways, It was still in the process of putting it on.

1 tyre fyre!!!

So...here's my problem. when I floor it, it only shifts at about 4500rpm, so I have to hold it in gear to get it up past that. If I pull the TV cable out farther to make it shift later, it shifts really late and HARD. I want it to shift higher without holding it in gear. Can any of you guys help me?

I cannot tell what brand carb you have. If it is a Holley, you will need the Sonnax brand linkage adapter to properly attach(for geometry purposes) the tv cable. You will also need the holley bracket for the mounting of the tv cable to the carb base.

So which will work better? I'm not too good with trannys. I like the braket idea...no messing w/ transmission.

6 cyl governor should put you around 5500rpm at WOT shifts and elevate part throttle slightly higher.

Believe all v8's were around 4800 or so at WOT, least thats my experience on my own TPI 350 cars and a few others

later
