In the middle of t-5 swap!
Yesterday I pulled the t-5 from an '84 Z-28. I'm putting the t-5 in my '85 T/A(LB9). I have the tranny and shifter out. I have some questions though. First, my friend said that my T/A is setup for a clutch even though its auto. Under the dash left of the brake pedal theres this plastic panel. Do I just cut the panel out and is that where my clutch pedal is going to be bolted? If so does this mean I won't have to cut a hole in the firewall for the pedal? Also about the hydralic clutch assembly, are the master cylinder and brake boosters the same on both of these cars? The Z has a white cap for the hydralic clutch on the master cylinder. Do I just take the cap and its hoses over for my T/A? One more for now- what else besides the brale pedal assembly do I need to take from the Z? I need to go ahead and take whatever I need so I can get rid of the Z.

First, TA and the TA mount are universal between stick and auto cars.
Second, the underdash panel is probably already marked on the backside for a clutch pedal cutout. Just follow the line and cut it out.
Third, you need to cut a hole in the firewall for the pushrod and drill two holes for the u-bolt. These holes may be pre-punched in the firewall pad already. You can use that as a guide to show you where to cut.
Lastly, master cylinder and boosters are the same between cars. Use the clutch master mounting bracket from the stick car, which will mount the master on one of the studs for the master cylinder.

You need the clutch pedal assembly, clutch hydraulics & mounting hardware, and console plate (though this will be different between a Camaro and a Firebird).

The speedo cable's a pain to remove. Buy a new one, or you may even be able to re-use your exisitng one (unless you've got an electronic speedo now).
