What parts to build 500 ft/lb. capable 700R4?
Gonna be time for a rebuild on the trans soon, so I'm going to build up the spare that I have laying around. The motor it's going behind made 450 ft/lb. What is the weak point in the 700? Plans were for a rebuild kit with new seals, Alto red clutches, kevlar band, .500 bv., 'vette servo, and the transgo kit. I was also looking at The Beast sunshell to go along with it all. What else should I upgrade?

Go to http://www.700r4l60e.com/store/custo...&cat=19&page=1 this will work fine for what you want. 2nd gear burnouts (that is starting in 2nd gear & not 1st & then 2nd) do not hurt the band at all, it holds the drum & that is it. If the band were breaking away, then it would be possible, but I have never seen that happen.

Not to still your thread or anything, but I am in the similiar boat. I have a stock 700R4 except for a B&M shift kit, tranny cooler, and corvette servo. Its back behind my 425hp 383 right now. I am going to be adding more power as I get money(I am a college student, need I say more about money) and I was wondering what parts I can get to help my tranny out or would it just be better to rebuild this one with the Pro-Built parts. I don't drag with it everyday, it rarely sees a 1/2 throttle, much less WOT. But I don't want it to break when I go to the track either(it has 30k on it right now), any suggestions would be very helpful and next weekend I am going to pound on it a little at the dyno so just trying to get together a plan incase it goes south. Thanks.

Yup, that's where I'm at. Stock trans behind 430+hp with just a 3k stall. Want to get it to the track but I don't want to grenade the tranny. I've got a spare to build so I'm trying to plan how to build it.

The typical parts that take a crap are inside the trans, the 3/4 pack and the sunshell. So I guess the only way to help it last longer would be to not beat on it and keep the temps down with a good cooler. I don't think anything else would make it last much longer. Especially considering that a billet servo and shift kit will only make life harder on these parts.

Would that kit be idea for a 700 behind a 400 hp smallblock, with N2O That will only ocasionally used at the track, maybe once a month. Mostly street driven?

Yea i know that....I do have cooler on it right now and I am not hard on it. It never sees about 2k rpms but this sunday it will at the dyno. Just trying to make it last you know....I might get my hands on another one and see what happens i guess or just buy one when this one breaks.
