Is the Trans-Go 700R4 shift kit the best?

I have previously installed the B&M shift kit and the shfits were so hard that my wife would not ride in the car because she said it hurt her back (mine too). I was wondering if the Trans-Go kit is bette, before I do my next overhaul?

The TransGo has better part-throttle shifting manners than the B&M.

WOT shifts would still be firm, and normal daily driveabilty would be dramatically improved (less harsh)?

That's the idea. The Trans-Go Shift Kit doesn't really try to address shift feel at all, it just corrects some common design problems. It's the Reprogramming Kit that changes shift firmness.

To bring it back to stock first you'll probably need to replace some parts that the B&M kit changed or modified. The B&M kit just blocks the accumulators, enlarges the feed holes and jacks up the line pressure to harden the shifts.

I will be overhauling a stock 1988 IROC TH700R4. Will I need the TransGo kit plus a "reprogramming" kit?

You don't strictly need the Reprogramming Kit unless you want to firm up the shifts.

The Trans-Go Shift Kit doesn't really try to address shift feel at all, it just corrects some common design problems. It's the Reprogramming Kit that changes shift firmness. The Shift kit does address the shift feel, just not much for WOT shifts. The Performance kit "as is" does not address the 1-2 part throttle shift very well. The Performance Shift kit that I offer offers both, smooth shifts at light throttle openings, & firm shifts at WOT. The Performance Shift kit offers better 3-2 downmshifts, the ability to hold any gear to any rpm, & keeps the 3-4 clutches from getting into trouble at anything above 5,000 rpm thru 7,800 rpm.

dont they make an electronic shift kit now? you just plug it in, and it resets pressure or something. i think B&M makes it.
