700r4 flare at light throttle
I have an 86 corvette 700r4 that flares just a little from 1-2 and 2-3 at very light throttle only. Shifts firm if you shift manually at over 2200 rpms. Shifts very firm at full throttle. Tranny was rebuilt (rebuilt by general motors sticker on tranny and torque converter) The stock torque converter for an 86 corvette is about 2000 rpm stall. Tv cable is new and adjusted properly. Flare is not as noticable after motor is warmed up good. Would a shift improver kit increase the line pressure at low rpm and solve this problem, or is it just the converter slipping? I never owned a higher stall converter before. It shifts firm at WOT, just a little too soon for the hotcam and lt4 intake. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

My guess is that you're not getting instant pressure rise from the trans with throttle movement. Only way to know for sure is to hook up a line pressure gauge. Might try setting the TV cable one notch tighter (towards the firewall) (even though at this point it will no longer be adjusted properly) to see if it fixes it. If it does, you probably need to replace the throttle valve spring inside the valve body, as it is too compressed and is not putting the TV where it should be with a properly adjusted cable.
