Clunck When Downshifting, Wierd Noises
Whenever I downshift into second or first gear, it takes like one and a half seconds, and it realy clunks and jerks the car hard. Like as if I had it in neutrel, reved it to 3500rpm and dropped it into drive. It dose it even if Im not giving it any throttle. After I did it today I think I started hearing a hissing sound comming from the tranny area, I could hear from inside while idling. Whats up with this?

I also forgot, when I shift into 1st or 2nd gear while at a stop, it makes this screaching whining noise. Shift back into 3rd or Drive and it stops.

stop doing neutrual drops in your automatic trans.
you prabably broke the trans mount, and screwed up the internals.the clutch packs in stock autos are weak.
i wish people would get a 5 speed if they want to burn the tires, autos suck for performance.

I have never done a neutrel drop with this car. It only has 39K miles on it, no reason for sumthing to be wrong with it yet

they dont? why would you want an auto for racing?
i could see if your no good with a clutch or missing a leg or something.
but for performance the manual is king.just ask ferrari ,porsche, mclaren, or any other high end car manufacturer.
and try getting some lucas trans stuff, it put reverse/second back in mercedes a few years ago.you might have to change/flush the fluids a few times and you might try some similar products,it wont fix broken parts ,but it should help. you might just have sludge or deposits gumming up the internals.

For racing other than drag, yes manuals are the way to go.

I thought it had something to do with the ECM but I was wrong (read below)
Clunks and banging noises are most commonly caused by contact against the transmission tunnel. And this most commonly happens when the transmission mount breaks. If the mount is broken and you apply throttle the torque arm will push the tailshaft of the transmission up towards the tunnel and cause contact. This is just how the suspension was designed. The transmission mount keeps the transmission from lifting off the crossmember via forces from the torque arm. You can test this by simply going WOT from a stop. If there is a noise when you floor it, good chance the mount is broken. If not, then you can eliminate that as the problem. Lots of other things can causes noises and vibrations, unfortunately alot of them are internal to the transmission and become apparent after beating on the tranny and downshifting it and stuff. Its also possible its something else entirely (rearend, etc).
I think automatics are generally accepted as the transmission of choice for drag racing. More consistent and better launches with the torque converter. Thats the main reason in my opinion, torque converter is really good for drag racing. Multiplies torque.

The only computer controls for a stock thirdgen tranny are TCC related.
The computer only controls your TCC lockup and unlock points.
has a 3rd and 4th gear switch to know which high gear its in, 3 or 4 and works the TCC accordingly.
The shifts are not nor have they ever been computer controlled in a 700r4 or 4L60 trans. It is a function of valve body controls and governor settings.
