700r4 out of suburban
as you can prob guess i picked up a 700r4 out of a suburban, it is a 91 suburban
the only differences i have noticed are the tailshaft piece and the way the linkage is connected(different style tab)
i did however get to keep my old 700r4, from 89 RS and i am just planning on taking those 2 pieces and putting them on the other one
my questions reliability of the burb's tranny and is the gearing the same, i am assuming all the mounting is the same, but we all know where assuming can lead

all the mounting with the exception of the tailhousing should be the same. just switch that and the shift lever. you might want to look at the speedo gears and use the ones from your tranny cuz the suburban's will probably be different. the gearing in the trans will be the same. unless the suburban was a 4x4 which i'm sure you would have seen that.

yes, if you don't, your speedometer will be wrong. there is a clip holding the gear on the shaft. it look like it is under the gear. on the side of the gear opposite the rest of the transmission, is a tab you have to hold down while LIGHTLY tapping the grear with the side of a hammer. work around the gear so it doesn't bind. you will have to tap it back about an inch or so before it will come free. again, be careful so you don't damage the gear.
