Anyone know what a g&g transmission is?
I was wondering if anyone knew of a company by the name of g&g. It was stamped on the tail end of a t-10 transmission. I was wondering if it was a company that made stock t-10's or if they upgraded them, thanks.

G & G was a small company from Blaine, MN that specialized in upgrading trans and rear ends for racing and all around performance use. I think the guy's name was George Fluery. They were popular in the late '70's and through the '80's. For a while they had a mobile shop and travelled the NHRA circuit, selling parts and doing repairs at the tracks. I bought a rebuilt Muncie from them around '79 or so and is still going strong in a big block Chevelle. If I dug through my junk I could probably come up with an old catalog or something. I'm sure he is retired by now. Seems to me he sold his stuff to Long transmissions in PA some time ago.

So it's some pretty good stuff then?
The transmission i was looking at had a g&g aluminum case and was a t-10, you think it'll hold up better than a stock internal steel case one?

My memory is a little cloudy as it has been a few years. I vaguely remember them casting their own cases and I'm pretty sure they were the first to offer a steel mid plate for the super T10's. The steel mid plate is a pretty good improvement over the cast aluminum stocker. Who knows what gears are in the trans. 9310 alloy was available for some ratios and offered a strength increase over the 8620 normal alloy. Different ratios are stronger than others. Generally the higher ( lower numerically ) gearsets are stronger. ie a 2.64 stronger than a 2.88. Plus the stuff has got to be approaching 20 years old and who knows what kind of life it has had. All in all I would say they produced some good stuff, but the more important question is probably about its condition now and how hard was it used. Hope this helps.

Re: Anyone know what a g&g transmission is?
I realize this thread has a long gray beard, but I'll add additional information to the thread if others desire more information.
I found this site while doing a search on George Fluery, which led me to this thread. I was a customer of his for twenty years or more starting in 1974.
Yes he was the mastermind behind G&G in Blaine, MN. They were driveline specialists. They mostly did axle work for me. Long studs, hardened axles sealed bearings, C-Clip elimination, etc.
He found a need in transmissions and for a time, the G&G Super T-10's were the staple of Drag Racing and hot street cars. He developed a massively strong version that was even used in Pro Stock & Competition Eliminator.
I've never used the T-10 but I know He had gearsets for almost any ratio and the gear ratios could be quickly changed out of the crash boxes. That tailshaft housing posted about is a beefier casting than a stock Borg Warner one.
A lot of years have gone by since the original post, but it would be interesting whether that's a whole G&G transmission or just a replacement tailshaft for a broken one.
G&G was a BW dealer and he also blueprinted stock new replacement transmissions. He was definitely the T-10 go to guy in the country.
Sincerely, Erika von T

Just off Elliot’s knee. It says “ G&G” (line 1) “T 10 Transmissions “(line 2) and” Clutches and _____ ______.” Any ideas on the last two words. Should have something to do with the driveline, I would think.
